Working around protected trees

Many properties in the Epping Forest district have trees with preservation orders (TPOs). We never mount cameras directly on protected trees. Instead we use nearby building walls, purpose-built posts or slim mounting poles positioned to achieve the same coverage without any fixings into the tree itself.

Leaf debris is also a practical concern for cameras in wooded settings. Leaves, pollen and sap can obscure lenses and block infrared illumination for night vision. Our annual servicing includes lens cleaning and checking that foliage growth has not encroached on camera sight lines since the last visit — particularly important after the growing season.

Combined with automated gates and access control, CCTV creates a complete security system for the mature, established properties that define this area.
